Techniques used:

• Side show banners: primed muslin, gridded and copied design onto sheets of craft paper, used charcoal powder to pounce onto muslin, color-matched with paint elevations, apply washes of paint in multiple layers

  • Back of banners were spattered and sponged to show distress and aging

• Flats: primed and based, calculated angles for the diamond pattern, marked with graphite stick, color-matched with paint elevations, spatter with base color, used lining stick to mark out all lines

• Various lettering and sign-painting techniques used
